Product Comparison

There are two methods to choose from for relining your chimney. The first is the stainless steel liner. The stainless liner is usually a much cheaper and faster repair than the cast liner. The purpose of this system is to sleeve the inside of the chimney or sometimes the existing liner. In reality your masonry chimney has just now been changed to a prefab chimney system. The stainless steel has now become a replacement chimney system.

The second method of relining is the cast liner. The cast liner has been on the market now for over eighty years. The purpose of the cast system is to build a new chimney inside of the existing casing. The liner material bonds the chimney casing and liner together creating a one piece seamless insulated chimney system. By lining the chimney this way you are not only allowing the flue gases to vent out of the chimney but at the same time you are strengthening the chimney structure. The reason why this liner is strengthening the structure is because when it is installed the material is filling all of the mortar joints in between the exiting brickwork. The mortar joints are what keep the brick chimney structurally sound. If the mortar joints were to deteriorate and fall out then the chimney structure would be too weak to hold itself up.

There is no comparison in the two products. The cast liner is by far a better liner in both the quality and longevity of the liner. There is also no comparison in the price of the two liners because it takes half the time to install a stainless than it does a cast liner. The more one learns about the cast liner the more one is able to understand why it is a better quality product.

When relining a fireplace flue the liner starts at the top of the firebox. Therefore, the smoke chamber is lined and becomes part of the flue liner. The smoke chamber is not lined with a stainless steel liner. There are sixty five dealers that install the Golden Flue Liner throughout the United States. There is an average of 140 liners installed each week. As of date there has never been a warranty claim on the Cast-N-Place Liner which by the way comes with a twenty year guarantee. This is a track record of which we are very proud to have. When someone asks me “What is the difference between cast and stainless” this is what comes to mind.

in quality. One system is to sleeve a chimney, the
other is totally restoring a chimney with longevity
and adding structural strength to the chimney.
